BETWEEN FOLDS AND CURVES–A CUBE, 2024, 2023-2024

Info

The sculpture BETWEEN FOLDS AND CURVES–A CUBE is related to the 11 possibilities to unfold a cube. While cube sides are typically represented as firm, flat surfaces, I became interested in using fabric as a soft, pliable material. Zippers at the edges allow the cubes to be opened and closed. This sculpture requires five zippers to be opened and closed. The sculpture, BETWEEN FOLDS AND CURVES—A CUBE, is crafted from a pink-reddish fabric, which is semi-transparent, allowing the orange zippers to be seen through the material. In a three-dimensional representation, the corners and edges of a cube correspond to the demarcation lines of the architecture. By choosing a pliable material, I aim to change the perception of the object’s geometry and its relationship to both the viewer and the surrounding space.
