The sculpture BY THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF A THIN BLUE LINE is related to the 11 possibilities to unfold a cube. While cube sides are typically represented as firm, flat surfaces, I became interested in using fabric as a soft, pliable material. Zippers at the edges allow the cube to be opened and closed. The sculpture can be opened and closed with a single long zipper. The sculpture BY THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF A THIN BLUE LINE—A CUBE BECOMING A GESTURE is made from white, slightly grayish paper that has a textile quality, featuring a zipper in a radiant blue color. In a three-dimensional representation, the corners and edges of a cube correspond to the demarcation lines of the architecture. By choosing a pliable material, I aim to change the perception of the object’s geometry and its relationship to both the viewer and the surrounding space.
